Agreeing to these terms

By creating a Sit Chilly account or using the game, you agree to everything on this page. If you do not agree, do not use Sit Chilly.

We may update this page. We will change the date at the bottom, and if a change is significant we will email account holders before it takes effect. If you keep using Sit Chilly after a change, you have accepted the updated version.

Who runs Sit Chilly

Sit Chilly is owned and operated by Longitude Media, LLC. “We” and “us” on this page mean that company. If you need to reach a person about anything here, write to showoffice at sitchilly dot com.

Who can play

You must be 18 or older to hold a Sit Chilly account. The game is not built for children and we do not knowingly keep an account for anyone under 18. If you tell us an account belongs to a child, we will delete it and everything attached to it.

Your account

One account per person. Keep your password to yourself: anyone holding it can make picks as you, and your league will have no way to tell the difference. If you think someone else has it, change it, and tell us if something looks wrong.

We may close an account that is used to abuse other players, to break into the game, or to interfere with how a league runs.

Closing your account

You can close your account whenever you like. Write to showoffice at sitchilly dot com and we will delete your account and your personal details within 30 days.

One honest limit: your barn’s past scores stay in your league’s history. Taking them out would rewrite results the other Barn Managers earned, and we are not willing to do that to them.

The fee

Sit Chilly collects a player fee for use of the game. Your fee covers one season.

Your fee does not renew automatically. We will ask before charging you again.

Fees are not refundable once a season has begun, except where the law requires otherwise, or where we close your account for a reason that is not your fault. If we stop running Sit Chilly partway through a season you have paid for, we will refund the unused part of your fee.

Payments are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.

No pot, no prize

Sit Chilly is software you pay to use, not a contest you pay to enter. Your fee buys you access to the game for the season. Sit Chilly awards no prizes, holds no money other than your fee, and takes no share of anything. We neither run nor permit wagering through Sit Chilly. Any arrangement between league members is theirs alone — we do not host it, take part in it, or endorse it.

Sit Chilly is a game of skill. Your points come from where the horse-and-rider pairs you picked actually finished, and from nothing else.

Your league sees your picks; the public sees nothing

Leagues are private. Nobody joins one without a link from its commissioner, and nothing inside a league is visible to the open internet.

Inside your league, the other Barn Managers see your barn name, your manager name, your barn logo, your scores and your standing all season. They see your picks for an event the moment that event locks, and not before.

Commissioners are players, not our staff

Every league has a commissioner, and every commissioner is a player like you. Commissioners run their own leagues and can correct picks and results inside them. Any such change is recorded.

We are not responsible for how a commissioner runs a league, for the decisions they make, or for anything they arrange with their members outside the game.

Anything you upload

Your barn name, your manager name and your barn logo stay yours.

By uploading them you give us permission to store and display them inside Sit Chilly, for as long as your account exists, so the game can show them to your league. That permission goes no further — we will not use your barn logo in our own advertising or anywhere outside the game without asking you first.

You confirm that what you upload is yours to use and does not infringe anyone else’s trademark, copyright or other rights, and you agree to cover us for any claim that arises from what you uploaded. We may remove anything we believe infringes someone’s rights, or that we consider abusive.

What you agree not to do

Do not try to break into the game, into another player’s account, or into anything else we run. Do not copy the game, its rules or its data for use elsewhere, take the software apart to rebuild it, or point automated tools at it to harvest what is inside. Do not use Sit Chilly to harass another player, and do not use it to run a wagering operation.

What we store

Only what the game needs to run, including:

• Your name and email address, and an encrypted version of your password that cannot be turned back into the password itself.
• If you turn on two-factor sign-in, the secret your authenticator app needs and your unused backup codes.
• For each league you play in: your barn name, your manager name, and your barn logo if you uploaded one.
• Your picks, your scores, and the record of any pick or result an operator or commissioner changed.
• A signed cookie that keeps you logged in, and a short technical log our hosting company keeps of requests to the site.

If you ask for a league or a show on our waiting-list form, we store your name and email address; how you heard about us, the show you have in mind and your message, if you give them; which of our links brought you to the form; and, if you name someone to start your league, that person’s name and email address. We use these only to reply to you, to send the person you named one email, to invite you or that person to start a league, and to see which of our links bring people to the form. The person you named gets one email from us at most, and we add them to no mailing list. Either of you can write to showoffice at sitchilly dot com to have these details deleted, and we will delete them within 30 days.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not follow you around other websites.

Who else sees it

We use outside companies to host the site and its database, to send our email, and to take payments. They handle your information only to run Sit Chilly for us, under agreements that hold them to that.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it for advertising. We would hand it to the authorities only where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is open, and for a short period afterward so we can meet our accounting and legal obligations.

Your choices

Write to showoffice at sitchilly dot com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete it — subject to the league-history limit described above.

If your information is ever exposed

If something happens to your information that could put you at risk, we will tell you: what we know, and what we are doing about it.

What we do not promise

Sit Chilly is provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We work hard to keep the scores right and the site up, but we do not promise that the game will never be down, never lose a pick, or never get a result wrong.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost opportunity, or the outcome of any league. Our total liability to you — for any one claim and for all of them together — is limited to what you paid us for the season the claim arose in.

Some states do not allow every limit written above. Where that is so, the limit applies as far as that state allows, and no further.

Results and corrections

Results come from the published results of real competitions. When a competition corrects its own results, we correct ours, and standings can move after the fact. That is the game working the way it should, not a fault in it.

Governance

Longitude Media, LLC is a Delaware limited liability company. Delaware law governs this page and your use of Sit Chilly, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Any dispute arising out of this page or out of your use of Sit Chilly will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we each agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. Nothing here takes away a right your home state gives you that cannot be given up.

The rest of the fine print

If any part of this page turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still stands.

If we do not enforce something here right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.

This page is the whole agreement between you and us about Sit Chilly, and it replaces anything said before it.

You may not hand your account, or your rights under this page, to anyone else. We may transfer ours if Sit Chilly or Longitude Media changes hands, and these terms would travel with it.
